Ahh yes, Internet Eyes. A few salient points need to be made: 1) People are not getting paid, the reward is a prize for the most number of reports sent in by SMS. 2) The company only gives you 3 free SMS messages. After that you have to pay (in the UK it's up to 2 pounds per text) to report a crime and finally 3) The legality of this IS in question in the UK and is being challenged in the courts both on grounds of privacy invasion AND the fact that using untrained 'operators' is, in itself, legally questionable. From what I've heard about this concept, even the police are questioning the use of so many CCTV cameras in the UK. The latest figures state that only one crime is solved per 1000 cameras. In fact the UK has 20% of the world's CCTV cameras and only 1% of the world's population and yet the crime rate is still increasing!
